The Trials of the Afanaskin Family

The family's life before and after the tragedy

Immediately after the tragedy, the parents of the aggressors were gripped by fear. They understood the publicity this case would now receive and how they and their children would look. A group of parents even tried to give the Afanaskin family money, under the formal pretext of "for the funeral," in order to somehow mitigate the situation. More details on this in the section "Parents of the Aggressor Children".

But almost immediately, the Bryansk authorities intervened in the investigation and decided to gradually cover up the case, see "Concealment of the truth by the authorities". The feigned grief and sympathy immediately disappeared. And they were replaced by a desire to settle scores with the Afanaskins, including for the fear they had experienced.

The Afanaskin family lived very modestly before the tragedy.

"The father was constantly at work to provide for his family,"

"Lately, he (the father – Ed.) was forced to work nights in security at the Bryanskpivo processing plant. To provide for his family and give his daughters the best possible life. After his shifts, he would catch up on sleep and spend time at the gym to stay in shape."

It is safe to assume that this lifestyle of Dmitry Afanaskin, who worked as a simple security guard, differed greatly from the lifestyle of the wealthy parents whose children bullied his daughter.

The loss of their daughter was a heavy blow for the family. The press published a statement from Nadezhda Afanaskina, Alina's mother. In it, she asked for her husband to be released from custody, as she herself would not be able to protect herself and Alina's sister "from the possible commission of something bad" without her husband (see more details about this in the "Alina's Family" section).

To forget it like a nightmare, but only in one direction.

The parents of the aggressors and the schoolteachers constantly urged everyone to forget the tragedy like a nightmare. However, in their understanding, this meant forgetting, but only in one direction, namely:

TO FORGET about the prolonged bullying of Alina, leading her to suicide, the unprofessionalism of the teachers, the indifference of the bullies' parents, and the negligence of the security guards.

NOT TO FORGET about vengeance to Afanaskin family, whose daughter, being driven into a corner, committed a desperate act.

Instead of simply quietly hanging herself, as many bullied children do, she dared to inflict some damage on her tormentors before she left. From the point of view of the pompous parents of the aggressive children, this was insolence.

Court proceedings

The first in a series of trials was a criminal trial under the article for negligent storage of firearms (Article 224, paragraph 2). Dmitry Afanaskin was found guilty and sentenced to one year and eight months of correctional labor for negligent storage of a hunting rifle. The judge also ruled that Afanaskin was obligated to pay the families of the children injured through his daughter's fault a total of 2.85 million rubles.

However, the parents of the "innocent victims" expressed their disagreement with this decision and demanded a real prison sentence.

Subsequently, the amount of compensation for moral damage was discussed in civil court. The Efimovs, Nesmachnyis, and Krishtals filed a lawsuit against Alina's family in civil court.

Claims against Nadezhda Afanaskina

What is most striking is that Alina's mother is also included in the lawsuit (see the court statements above). And while the girl's father was at least accused of negligent handling of a weapon (he, incidentally, did not admit his guilt), it is completely unclear what Nadezhda Afanaskina is being accused of. Nevertheless, they are demanding money from her. Throughout the time that has passed since the tragedy, no one has written a single bad word about Nadezhda Afanaskina.

On what grounds did the plaintiffs include her in their statement? Only because she is a member of the Afanaskin family? But if we follow this logic, then money could be demanded from all of Alina's relatives up to the seventh generation.

And even before the tragedy, the family was not wealthy, and Dmitry Afanaskin was the main breadwinner (see above). The subsequent expenses associated with Alina's funeral, lawyers' fees, and participation in court proceedings certainly did not enrich the Afanaskins, but rather the opposite.

If the aggressors' parents had achieved their goal, and Dmitry Afanaskin had gone to prison, then Nadezhda Afanaskina, who remained free, would have had to pay a huge sum of money alone. This is in addition to having to raise and support her minor daughter Dasha, who survived a tragedy.

Imagine this situation for a moment. It becomes truly terrifying. This perfectly demonstrates the degree of savagery in modern Russian society. This is cruelty that is anything but childish.

The persecution of Alina's family in the courts caused an extremely negative reaction towards the plaintiffs in the city, after which the process was closed, and all information about it was hidden on the Internet.

The court proceedings and the resulting stress on Alina's family continue to this day. According to information on the court's website, the case, two years after the shooting, has essentially been restarted, and third parties have joined the case on the plaintiffs' side (information about them is naturally hidden on the court's website). The grounds for the lawsuit have changed, and the amount of the claim has INCREASED, see screenshot. That's how it is!!!

The inhumanity of the parents of the aggressive children is shocking. And it completely destroys the legend that the bullying of Alina by her classmates can be explained by "childish cruelty." The plaintiffs in this case are not children. And they have set themselves one goal – to completely destroy the Afanaskin family. Just as their sadistic children slowly and methodically morally killed Alina in the classroom, they are now slowly and deliberately, having hired experienced lawyers, destroying Alina's family in court. The same modus operandi inherited genetically.

Reasons for hatred

Why do they hate the Afanaskin family so much? Part of what is written in the lawsuits is true. The girl inflicted irreparable moral damage on them and their children, but it's not related to physical injuries.

The tragedy at the gymnasium became so well-known throughout the world, and such a stain of shame fell upon them, that they will not be able to get rid of it for the rest of their lives, no matter how hard they try.

Everywhere they go in the future, at a new job or place of study, there will be at least one person behind their backs who will say, "Do you remember the tragedy in Bryansk in 2023? Well, that's the one (or the ones). Which….

They understand this. That's why they are taking revenge with such ferocity.
